Roads and Bridges

For years, deicers have been used to remove ice from roadways, and epoxy overlays have been successful in protecting roadbeds from chloride and water intrusion, but never before have they been used in tandem. The Cargill SafeLane ™ overlay combines the pavement sealing and renewal characteristics of epoxy overlays with a unique aggregate that stores and automatically releases anti-icing chemicals.

When liquid anti-icing chemicals are applied to the overlay before ice or snowstorms hit, the material acts like a rigid sponge, storing the chemicals inside and then automatically releasing them as conditions develop for the formation of ice or snow. The result is safer roads with better mobility, because the overly helps prevent frost or ice from ever forming while sealing the roadbed to prevent damage caused by intrusion. It also provides superior friction giving drivers year round traction in all weather conditions. Equally attractive is the fact that SafeLane overlay keeps releasing the anti-icing chemicals over multiple events.
